FC Barcelona were without Marcus Rashford in their Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Atlético Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, with the forward sidelined due to knee discomfort.
The 28-year-old attacker was ruled out after picking up a knock in last weekend’s clash against RCD Mallorca. While the issue was not deemed serious, Barça chose to act cautiously and avoid any unnecessary risks with the England international.
Rashford expected back for Girona
Despite missing the trip to Madrid, optimism remains high regarding his recovery. According to SPORT, sources close to the player are confident he will be available for Monday’s La Liga encounter against Girona FC.
Rashford did not train with the group in the final session before the Atlético clash, instead completing individual work inside the gym at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The decision to leave him out was strictly precautionary rather than the result of a serious injury.
Barcelona expect the forward to return to full training during Friday’s recovery session, with the club confident he will be ready for the Girona fixture.
With uncertainty still surrounding Raphinha’s fitness, Rashford could even be in contention for a starting role in Monday’s crucial league clash.
